Surrounding area is primarily farm land.
Accessible through a main entrance on Old Elk Neck Road; there are no entry gates. Primarily flat terrain with gently sloping hills; variety of mature trees and shrubbery in heavily wooded areas; adequate drainage. The soil condition is mostly loam. There are no roads and no sewers. There is water provided by a well and there is a septic tank. There is no fencing around perimeter. According to the Elkton Planning and Zoning Department, there are no designated wetlands in the northern part of the cemetery. However, on the southern part there is a wooded creek that seasonally floods. |

The parcel under review is bordered on three sides by the Elk Neck State Forest. This state forest comprises approximately 23,000 acres. This state forest serves as a fixed or natural boundary between the residential and industrial sections of Elkton. this state forest will complement the esthetic beauty of the propo9sed cemetery. Cecil County is a progressive and growing area located in the northeastern corner of Maryland, midway between Baltimore and Philadelphia. It is the only Maryland County which is part of the Wilmington, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland primary Metropolitan area. The county was founded by Captain John Smith in 1608. Today, about 60% of the county is farmland. The major industrial centers are Elkton, North East, and Perryville located along or near I-95. The I-95/Route 40 corridor is the principal link along the U.S. east coast. Manufacturing account for some 27% of employment. Major employers are W.L. Gore & Associates, Morton Thiokol and Terumo Medical. Approximately six miles from Exit 109 off I-95 having only four traffic signals to pass through to the site. Coming from the south take Exit 100 there would be three traffic signals to the site. |
